Several new, vitrification-based cryopreservation protocols have been developed in recent years with which high survival rates have been obtained and which are applicable to a wide range of species and accessions within species. These protocols are now being used in large-scale experiments for numerous vegetatively propagated species. The development of cryopreservation techniques is much less advanced for advanced for long-term conservation of recalcitrant seed species. |
